Can I just use baking soda to reduce acidity in coffee?

Does it take more than 400mg of Coffee Tamer to work?

Nope. Each packet is perfectly measured. Just 200mg raises the pH of 8oz of coffee by 1 full point, making it significantly less acidic. Since most people drink larger cups, we provide 400mg per packet for full coverage.

Can’t I just crush TUMS® and add it to my coffee?

We wouldn’t recommend it. Coffee Tamer is 12x more effective than TUMS at reducing acidity in coffee. In fact, you’d need 7 TUMS tablets to try to match one Coffee Tamer packet—and that would cost more and ruin your coffee.
